Discover upcoming Italian projects

by Mark Faithfull

Luca Maganuco, managing director, Multi Italy, introduced the series of presentations by discussing the refurbishment of Multi Italy’s Forum Palermo urban scheme, which originally opened in 2009 and is the second largest shopping centre in southern Italy.

He stressed that a major part of the revitalisation of the centre and its offer has focused on community and social functions, rather than just the commercial aspects.

Roberto Fracticelli, Italy manager, EuroCommerce, which has eight shopping centres in Italy, focused on the redevelopment and modernisation of I Gigli, which he said is the most visited shopping centre in Italy.

Roberto Limetti, managing director of Pradera Italy, discussed the expansion of the joint venture developed by Pradera-Axa, Lingotto Evolution, situated in Turin. It forms part of a wider mixed use scheme on a former Fiat car manufacturing site in the city.

Anand Remtolla, head of new projects for Ceetrus Italy, introduced the urban, mixed use project Merlata Bloom in Milan, designed to revitalise a major parcel of land in the north Italian city, which will play host to MAPIC Italy once again this year.

Diego Valazza, senior development manager retail, Lendlease Italy, also talked about regeneration in Milan, as he outlined plans for the major mixed use projects Milan Innovation District (MIND), while Fabrizio Zichichi manager of Milan Santa Giulia, explained the ethos behind Lendlease’s second large Milan project.

Finally, Edoardo Favro, CEO of RES-Real Estate Strategist, showcased plans for the To Dream urban district project in Turin and the mixed use offer.
